Shifting Contexts

Reimaging Images

2025-2026

In a subsequent body of work, I began to remove familiar figures and motifs from art history from their original settings and place them within new, often contemporary scenarios. By shifting their context, their meanings, relationships, and associations began to change.

Rather than reproducing the original works, I was interested in what happens when a familiar image is translated into a different visual reality. The act of recontextualization became another form of translation – between past and present, recognition and transformation.
